1992 Suzuki Swift Service repair engine manual. Engine code is stamped on the rear of the cylinder block on the bellhousing (horizontal to oil filter). The vehicle identification number (VIN) is stamped on a metal tag attached to the left side of the instrument panel near the bar. The sixth character in VIN identifies the engine model. 1) remove the rocker cover. Rotate the crankshaft until the zero-degree (TDC) timing mark the timing belt cover is in accordance with timing mark on crankshaft friction disc is guaranteed.
2) Cylinder nr. 1 must be at TDC on the compression stroke. Remove the Distributor CAP, and ensure the rotor is pointed upward on distributor team-down bolt and the No. 1 terminal of the Distributor Cap. If not as described, rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees.
3) measure the clearance between the valve adjustment screw and valve stem by using a thickness gauge. Check the intake valve clearance of cylinder No. 1 and 2 and exhaust valve clearance of cylinder No. 1 and 3.
4) Turn the crankshaft for a complete revolution (360 degrees). Check the intake valve closure jacks No. 3 and 4 and exhaust valve clearance cylinders No. 2 and 4. Ensure clearance is within specification. See VALVE clearance specifications table.
5) Whose clearance adjustment is necessary, loosen the lock nut and turn adjusting screw. After alignment clearance, tighten the adjustment screw Lock nut for 11-14 ft. inventory unit (15-19 nm) on Samurai or 90-108 INCH storage device (10-13 nm) on Sidekick. On all models, Check clearance.
